James Albert Beardsley, 80, of 34 McKinley Place, Grosse Pointe Farms passed away Monday night at his home. A native of Berlin township, Ionia county, he was the son of James C. and Hannah Beardsley. He married Ida M. Lundquist of Sunfield June 15, 1912 and entered the ministry in the summer of 1930 and served as pastor at Fowlerville, Charlotte, Huntington, Ind., Noblesville, Ind., Lake Odessa, St. Johns, South Haven, Trinity and St. Marks churches in Detroit. Rev. Beardsley retired at the age of 73 and his last pastorate was the Sharon church at Manchester. They moved to Lake Odessa where they lived until October of 1963. Surviving are his wife Ida M., one daughter Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Mitchell of Grosse Pointe Farms; two sons, Paul E. of Rockford and Rev. James Beardsley of Grand Forks, N. Dakota, six grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Clyde (Anna) Stambaugh of Lodi, Calif.; and a brother, Rev. Vernon Beardsley of Lake Odessa. Rev. Beardsley is reposing at the Pickens Funeral Chapel until Thursday forenoon, then will be taken to the Evangelical United Brethren church where funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. with burial in the Woodland Memorial cemetery.
