Catharine C., relict of the late Nathaniel H. Beattie, died on Saturday night at 9:45, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dr. R. Logan, corner East Washington and Rich streets. Mrs. Beattie was born Nov. 26, 1818, in New York state. With her parents she came to Michigan when but two years old, the family locating in Oakland county. She came to Ionia county, settling in the township of Keene, in 1840, and about twenty years later moved to Ionia city, where she has since made home. She was a long-time, ardent and consistent member of the M.E. church of this city, and as a citizen and mother, she had the respect of the community – especially of the older portion thereof. She was a member of the Ionia County Pioneer society. Four children survive: Mrs. Dr. R. Logan of this city. Mrs. Ophelia Bliss of Minneapolis, Mrs. Mariah Allen of Gowen, Mich., and Mrs. Linnie Horton, of Buffalo, N.Y.
