Born in Ionia June 26, 1895, he was the son of John C. and Edith Allured Beattie. He was a graduate of Ionia high school, University of Alabama, and the Worsham college of mortuary science at Chicago, Ill. On June 4, 1919, he married Marian Taft of Ionia and later moved to Clarksville where he started business in a funeral home in 1935. He owned and operated the business 30 years until his retirement in November of 1965 when he sold the business to Clare Pickens of Lake Odessa. Mr. Beattie had been affiliated with the Bradley and Boynton funeral homes of Ionia prior to moving to Clarksville. He had served with the US Army in World War I in France as a lieutenant. He had also service as Clarksville’s village President; Campbell township treasurer for years and was a (the rest of the obituary is unreadable).
