He was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Escanaba, Mich., to Orvis A. and Mercedes (Fahey) Beauchamp. He grew up in Iron Mountain, Mich., graduated from Iron Mountain High School and received his medical technology degree from Elkhart University. He moved to Ottawa, Ill., where he married the former Joyce Jarvis of Lapeer, Mich., on Aug. 5, 1961. They moved to Ionia, where he began employment at Ionia State Hospital Oct. 1, 1962. He continued working as head of the medical laboratory there until he retired from Riverside Correctional Facility Jan. 31, 1990. He also worked as a state licensed paramedic for Roetman Ambulance and for the Dept. of Corrections. He began his second career in real estate sales with Carr Agency from 1990-2007. Marin enjoyed golf, fishing, working in his yard and visiting with friends and neighbors, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and precious grandchildren. This “yooper’s” love for his adopted hometown of Ionia was evident in his community involvement with organizations such as American Red Cross and American Heart Association (CPR/First Aid Instructor), Ionia Area Hospice Board of Directors/Chairperson, Kiwanis Club, Jefferson School PTG, Ionia Band Boosters, United Way of Ionia County (various Board positions), YMCA, Ionia County Memorial Hospital Home Health Care Advisory Board, City of Ionia Zoning Board and Tax Board of Review, Ionia County Board of Realtors and Ionia County Ambassadors organization. He was a long-time volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as District Commissioner and as a Woodbadge Trainer and Scoutmaster with the Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo Councils. One of his proudest accomplishments was receiving the B.S.A. Silver Beaver award in October of 1984. Surviving are his wife, Joyce; daughters Lisa (Aaron) Tyler of Muskegon and Laurie (Lee) Carpenter of Wayne, grandchildren, Nicholas, Hannah and Lindsay Tyler and Katie and Kristie Carpenter; his niece Debi (Beauchamp) Riches of Colorado and nephew Mike Beauchamp of Minnesota, and their families. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Bill (Linda) Jarvis, Bud (MaryBeth) Jarvis, Dale (Nancy) Jarvis, Ralph (Sandi) Jarvis, David (Belinda) Jarvis and sister-in-law Mary (Gerry) Powell, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis Beauchamp and father-and-mother-in-law, Elmer and Laura Jarvis. A celebration of his life will be Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, 1 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Cliff Allen officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Balcom Cemetery.
