Ionia Daily Sentinel, 9 Dec 1949

Christian Beck 72, of 666 Union street died Thursday noon at his home after
being ill for several months.

He was born Sept. 11, 1877, in Austro-Hungary and moved to this country in 1903
and settled in Ohio.  He and his family moved to Michigan in 1912 and about a
year later settled in Ionia.  He has been a brick-layer by trade all his life.

Surviving are the wife, Margaret; five sons, Chris Beck of Europe, Phillip of
Holt, John Pavelka of Chicago, and Jacob and Henry Beck of Ionia; four
daughters, Mrs. E.W. Steiner of Muskegon, Mrs. Elizabeth Benedict of Grand
Rapids, Mrs. Gerald Musser of Benton Harbor and Mrs. Kenneth Rowley of Ionia;
twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Bradley funeral home. 
Dr. Paul Stewart will officiate.  Interment will be in the family lot in Balcom
cemetery.
