PASSED TO THE GREAT BEYOND A Life Rich in a Mother's Love. As Example of Purity and Sweetness Held in High Esteem. OBITUARY Mary Richards was born in Germany Nov.24,1843.With her parents she came to America in 1853 and they soon came to Michigan settling in Ionia County. After a few years was laced in a family in Ionia to help earn money that was so much needed at that time in t the new country. In this family she lived twelve years when she was married to George Becker in 1863. To them six children were born two boys and four girls, one boy Willie dying at the age of five years. Mr and Mrs Becker moved on the farm about one and one-half mile east of Lake Odessa which had been their home until last November when they decided to come to town and spend the remainder of their lives in an easier way then the could on the farm. For about one and one-half years Mrs.Becker's health has been failing, all medical skill seeming to have little effect on her and last Friday she was taken with an attack of la grippe which ended so fatally Tuesday morning when she passed from the known to the unknown and went to meet her Savior whom she trusted to the last. Mrs.Becker was a Christian from girlhood having confessed her faith and joining the Church of Christ at Ionia at the age of fifteen.Here her membership remained until with her membership remained until with her husband she joined the German Evangelical church near their home. The Deceased ;was one of three children, a brother, Jake Richards died several years ago and a sister Mrs.J Garinger who has lived near her sister since marriage. Besides the sister Mrs.Becker leaves a husband, a daughter Kate, who has always been her mother's constant companion, a daughter Matie, the youngest of the family, a son George who lives on the home farm, and two married daughters, Mrs.Jennie Goodenough of near Portland and Mrs.Anna Reiser who lives south of town. Besides these there is a host of friend who remember her for her kindness and loving sympathy. The funeral was held today (Friday) at 12:30 at the house and about 1:00 at the German Evangelical church and burial was made in Lakeside Cemetery.
