JOHN WILLIAM BECKETT, Jr., 86
John William Beckett, Jr., age 86, of Portland passed away Thursday, November 15,
2018. 

He was born August 10, 1932, the son of John William Becket Sr., and Nina Bovee.
John was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Portland and he retired from
General Motors after 34 years of service. John was part of the Ionia County Sheriff's Posse
for 17 years and was also a local businessman.

Preceding John in death are his parents and  all of his siblings. John is Survived
by the love of his life, Mijj Beckett to whom he was married to for 67 years; children, Connie
(Richard) Keusch, Robert (Victoria) Beckett, Barbara (Bryant) Hutchinson, and Nancy (Stanley)
Fedewa; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Coleman and Pastor Bob Beckett
at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 406 E. Bridge St.,
Portland. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. The family
will receive friends on Sunday from 104 p.m at the first Baptist Church. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beginning in Grace Church in honor of John.
