H. Bedford took place at St. John’s Episcopal church Tuesday p.m., the rector, Rev. W. H. Thomas, D. D., delivering a brief discourse appropriate to the occasion. The church was well filled with friends and acquaintances of the deceased. The floral offerings were abundant and of great beauty. The pall bearers were Messrs. Dr. A. B. Grand, A. S. Wright, J. W. Baldie and W. F. Soule. Interment was at Highland Park. Anna Griffing was the daughter of J. G. and Elizabeth Griffing, and was born in Hartland, Livingston county, this state, Dec. 24, 1847. She moved with her parents to Pontiac in 1856, where she was married to Robert H. Bedford Oct. 13, 1868, coming directly to Ionia to make her home, and residing here ever since. She and her husband united with the Episcopal church soon after coming here. They have one child—Albert—born Jan. 21, 1871. Long years of illness could not sour the amiable disposition of Mrs. Bedford nor diminish the noble traits of character which distinguished her and endeared her to a worthy circle of friends, by whom her loss will be deeply felt.
