January 7, 2023 BEEBE Steven L. Beebe passed peacefully in his home in the early morning of December 29, 2022. Steve was born on August 22, 1950 at Carson City Hospital to parents Edna (White) and Melvin Beebe. After he graduated from Ionia High School in 1968, Steve worked as a Union Representative with the Brown Corporation for 24 years. In 1992, Steve proudly began working for the Michigan Department of Corrections. His career with MDOC continued for 20 years until he retired in 2012. Steve had a spunky personality and was incredibly witty. He was extremely meticulous and a wiz with numbers. Some of his greatest strengths included his ability to be hard working, dependable and his determination to help others. Steve enjoyed hunting, traveling, muscle cars, and he especially enjoyed car races (whether that was drag racing, stock car, or NASCAR) Most of all. Steve loved sports, Baseball, basketball, and football were his favorites.He played baseball for Ionia Youth League throughout grade school and then became a coach for many years while his son played.He loved that both his children were involved in sports too and never missed one of their games. Post retirement, Steve's perfect day consisted of a drive in his Mustang, a Tuesday call with Randy Waite, some home improvement tasks, and spending time with family and his best friend, Fred Lange. His favorite evenings consisted of watching a sports game with his beloved Kitty, Max, while enjoying a big bowl of ice cream with peanuts. Steve was receded in death by his parents, and brother, Mark Beebe. He is survived by his children, Steve Jr., (Jenny) and Sherry; his grandchildren, Steven, Olivia and Lilly; his sister, Helena; and nieces, nephews, and friends. Steve will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed. A private burial will be held, at his request,"whenever".
