The daughter of Joseph J. and Adele Neveril Murphy, she was born Aug. 16, 1939, in Belding. A 1957 graduate of Belding High School, she retired from the office at the former Gibson Refrigerator Co. in 2001 after 34 years of service. She was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1554. Carol enjoyed reading, going to casinos, yard sales and working in her yard. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Nathan Jones. She is survived by her loving companion, Donald Christensen of Lakeview; her children, Nancy Jo Jones, Judy Greenway, both of Greenville, Rebecca and Jeff Shotwell of Sheridan, Susan Beech of Belding, Gregory and Terri Greenway of Belmont, Paul Greenway of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, JoAnne and Lloyd Baylis of Belding, her twin Nancy and Lorenzo Huey of Stanton; a brother, Joseph P. and Nancy Murphy of Ionia; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; Don’s sons, Chad Christensen of Detroit, Brad Christensen of Pontiac; special cousin, Jeanne Hughes and her family; several nieces and nephews; many special friends; and her faithful pet companions, Poncho and Lizzie. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin St., Greenville, with the Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of First Congregational Church, officiating. Honoring Carol’s wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Langston, in the spring. Visitation with the family is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
