Dortha J. Begerow, age 96, of Lake Odessa, passed away at her home on Wednesday 
evening, November 23, 2005.  She was born in Odessa Twp., on September 23, 1909 
to Charles and Stella May (Barkdull) Shellman.  Dortha had attended Beard 
School near the family farm, and was married to Nelson Begerow in Six Lakes, 
Mich. on September 1, 1932.  Nelson preceded her in death on November 1, 1997 
after 65 loving years of marriage.

For over 30 years, Dortha was an Avon dealer with many loyal customers.  Dortha 
and her family have been dedicated supporters of the Lakewood Community 
Ambulance, and for 32 years she, her husband, and her sister, Della, had made 
quilts to be raffled at fundraisers.

She is survived by her son, Charles Begerow; grandchildren, Cheryl (Steve) 
Eaton, Noel Begerow, Andrew (Jean) Begerow, Suzan (Lonnie) Miller, Julie 
(Calvin) Deatsman; 16 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; and 
many other loving relatives and friends.  Dortha was preceded in death by her 
parents; husband, Nelson; sisters, Dessie Shellman and Della Shellman; son, 
Harold Nelson Begerow; daughter-in-law, Linda Begerow; granddaughter, Jill Ann 
Begerow; and grandsons, James David Begerow and Vernon Jacob Begerow.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Koops Funeral 
Chapel.  Burial took place in Lakeside Cemetery.  The family has suggested that 
memorial contributions be made to the Lakewood Community Ambulance, or Barry 
Community Hospice.  Arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake 
Odessa.
