At the age of eleven years he with his parents cane t America and settled near Hespler, Ontario. After remaining there for several years he secured a farm near Brantford, Ontario. In the years of 1865 he was united in marriage to Minnie A Hohn who was his companion and helpmate in life until Dec.1,1906 when she was called to leave her home on earth for one prepared for her by her Savior, in whom she had abiding faith. In the year 1869 Mr. Begerow with his family moved from Ontario to Caledonia, Mich., remaining there 12 years. He then purchased a farm in Odessa township where he resided for 30 years. In Feb'y 1911 he disposed of his property in Michigan and with his son Henry F. went to Eugene, Oregon, hoping that the change might prove beneficial to him and that his life might be prolonged for him to enjoy at least a few more years. After arriving at Eugene, he purchased a farm on Camp Creek and also secured a home in Eugene where he has since resided. During the past winter his health began to fail. It became necessary for him to receive special care and treatment and he was take to the Eugene hospital. After remaining there for several weeks he felt much better and returned to his home, but soon a relapse took place and he was taken back to the hospital. But his physical forces were exhausted and he passed away June 21, 1912, age 7o years, 6 mos., 5 days. Before departing he gave expression of his faith that he was prepared to meet his Lord. His body was taken to Lake Odessa, Michigan for burial. All his children and grandchildren were present at the funeral. They will ever cherish in memory the life and deeds of a kind and providing father whose life's labor having ended is now at rest and awaiteth his reward. The funeral was held at his ld farm residence north west of Lake Odessa on June 28th, Elder I.H. Mourer officiating, assisted by Rev. A.J.Davis. The remains were taken to Lakeside cemetery and laid beside those of his companion who had preceded him a little over five years. Besides his four sons viz,-Charles, William and John who reside here in Odessa and Henry F.of Eugene, Oregon, and one daughter Mrs. Dorathe Maile of Grand Haven Mich., He leaves one brother, August Begerow of Branchton, Ontario and two sisters, one living at Hamilton, Ont. and one at Brockport, New York.
