Tiberius Belding is No More. Tiberius Belding was born September 2, 1838 on a farm near Ashfield, Mass. When he was two years old he came west with his parents who located on a farm in Otisco township, then a very new country, mostly covered with virgin forest. When he was twenty-four years old he was married to Miss Eliza King and the couple made a home on a farm near Greenville. To this union two children were born one of whom died when but six months old. In the fall of 1881 Mr. Belding moved with his family to Groton, South Dakota, where he engaged in the hotel business and also ran a farm which he continued until the death of his wife which occurred in 1900. After her death he closed out all his business in Dakota and went to Minneapolis where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. J.H. Perrin. He died Friday at the home of his daughter and his body was brought here for burial, arriving Monday evening. Tuesday funeral services were held in the Central Methodist church, conducted by Rev. W.E. Doty. Interment was in the family lot in the Otisco cemetery. Mr. Belding was possessed of many admirable traits of character. He was scrupulously honorable in business and loyal in his adherence to the friendships he formed. His passing is a loss to the community in which he dwelt.
