H. (Bert) Belding, a former resident of this city. “Tuesday night of this week, H. H. Belding sr. was taken suddenly ill at his home, 157 Bertram road, and within a short time passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Belding had been making calls on old friends and about 10 o’clock left for home. “As they were making preparations to retire, Mr. Belding remarked on the fact that he was feeling remarkably well, better than he had since his illness of a few weeks ago. In less than half an hour he suddenly exclaimed that he feared he was going to have a return of his old trouble, and became so ill that Mrs. Belding, who was alone in the house called her son, Hiram jr. “A physician was called but it was too late, and Mr. Belding passed away quietly. Funeral services were read at 2 o’clock at St. Paul Episcopal church by the Rev. R.O. Cooper with burial at Bronswood cemetery, Hinsdale. “Mr. Belding is survived by his widow, Bertha White Belding; four children, Hiram H. Belding jr., Mary Belding Scribner, Eleanor Belding and Edward Belding; also his mother, Mrs. L.S. Belding, of New York; and his brother, William Belding, of Pennsylvania. “Mr. Belding was one of the founders of Belding brothers. He was born in Chicago, November 15, 1871, lived there for some time and with his family came to Riverside in 1909.” Although Mr. Belding had not taken a prominent part in the public affairs in the community in which he lived, the people of his town honored his memory by lowering their flags to half mast for three days. Those from this city who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. R. Howard Hall and Mrs. W.P. Hetherington. Greenville friends who were at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Ranney, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ranney and Mrs. G.W. Ellis.
