He was born March 4, 1952 in Flint, Michigan, the son of John Howard Bell and Martha (Kemppanen) Bell Flores. John graduated from the Ionia Public Schools system in 1970 and pursued higher education thereafter. He earned his bachelors degree from The University of Tampa and then his Master of Science degree in Industrial Relations from the Western New England College. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and through his education in officer school and a lot of hard work, he climbed in rank from an enlisted Airman to Major. He served tours of duty in the Philippines and Thule, Greenland. He retired after many years of service as a Private Contractor in Weapons Systems Acquisition for the military. He worked at Wright Patt DRC. Mr. Bell will be remembered as a very kind and loving family-oriented man, who enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter and grandchildren. John was a very well-educated man with an off-the-wall sense of humor and had a very straight forward way of dealing with things. John loved The Lord with all of his heart and lived each day to its fullest. He enjoyed being outdoors in God’s creation and had an appreciation for camping, fishing and hunting. John will be sadly missed and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Diane Bell, daughter Katherine Sue (Mark) Stroble, grandchildren Clinton Weeks and Ana Marie Stroble; siblings James (Barbara) Bell, Debra White, Diane (Tom) Hatinger, and Marty Bell; a number of nieces and nephews and some very special pets. He is preceded in death by his parents. John’s funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in The First Church of The Open Bible, with visitation being held one hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor James Martin will officiate. Private burial will take place in Enon Cemetery. The family is being served by The Jones Kenney Zechman Funeral Home. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Good Samaritan ICU.
