He was born on Feb. 4, 1928 in Heron, Ill., the son of Roy and Nellie (Shepherd) Belt. He married Dolores I. (Lake) Belt Sept. 4, 1948 in Crystal. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Belt; four sons, Bill (Deinse) Belt of Lansing, Don (Sharron) Belt of Sheridan, Tim (Joy) Belt of Portage and Rob (Shelley) Belt of Shelton; his grandchildren, Doug (Angie) Belt of Fenwick, Jason Belt (Carrie Fisher) of Pontiac, Angie (Brad) Kudlas of Gainesville, Ga., Drew Belt of Portage, Britney Belt of Stanton, Brooken Belt of Stanton, Erin Belt of Lansing and Brad White of Holt; two great-grandchildren, Logan Belt and Bryce White; one sister-in-law, Jackie Belt of Crystal; a cousin, Dean (Peggy) Belt of Johnson City, Ill.; and special friends, Ted and Ginny Blanchard of Sheridan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Donald L. Belt and Joseph Belt. Mr. Belt has been a resident of Florida for the past year, but was formerly of Crystal where he made his home for over 50 years. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan. He retired from GenCorp of Ionia in 1990. He attended the Trinity United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills, Fla. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s baseball games, watching the birds, but most of all spending time on Crystal Lake where he enjoyed fishing. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday at the Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home at Sheridan with Rev. Les Potrafka officiating. Cremation has already taken place. The family suggest memorial considerations to the Hospice of Lansing.
