Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 27 Feb 1958

Ernest W. Bemis, 72, of 3083 Holmes road, Ypsilanti, died at his home Wednesday
morning.  He was born January 23, 1886 in Easton township, the son of Wallace
and Luella Curtis Bemis.  He was married July 23, 1907 to Edna Peasley in Ionia.
 The celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year.

Mr. Bemis lived in Ypsilanti for the past ten years, but prior to that had
always lived in Easton township.

Besides his wife Edna, he is survived by the following: Five daughters, Mrs.
Gertrude Niblock of Stanton, Mrs. Robert White of Ionia, Mrs. Leo Dent of
Lansing, Mrs. Edith Norris of Erie and Mrs. Betty Daughterty of Ypsilanti; two
sons, Kenneth of Otsego and Eldon of Ypsilanti; 17 grandchildren; 9
great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Glenn Thorpe of Ionia; one brother, Linn
Bemis of Coldwater, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at the Boynton funeral home Saturday at 3 p.m. with
the Rev. Heath Goodwin officiating.  Interment is to be in Easton cemetery.
