Bemus, 75, of 414 Florence street, Ypsilanti, died Saturday night at 5 o’clock at University of Michigan hospital after a two-day illness. She was born August 6, 1886 in Ionia, the daughter of Rance and Rachel Bell Peasley. She was married in Ionia July 23, 1907 to Ernest Bemus who died February 26, 1958. Mrs. Bemus had resided in Ypsilanti about 15 years. She was a member of First Christian church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Niblock of Stanton, Mrs. Margarite White of Ionia, Mrs. Eva Dent of Lansing, Mrs. Edith Wolf of Erie, and Mrs. Betty Daughtery of Ypsilanti; two sons, Kenneth Bemus of Kalamazoo, and Eldon Bemus of Ypsilanti; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Barnard of Portland, and Mrs. Olive Dreger of Ionia; one brother, Earl Peasley of Lansing. Funeral service will be at Boynton funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Floyd Emshwiller officiating and interment at Easton cemetery.
