Benedict, 72, prominent and highly respected farmer of Berlin Township passed away at his home last Friday morning, following an illness of 18 months of heart trouble. He had been a resident of the county for 65 years and well known throughout central Michigan. Until five years ago, Mr. Benedict operated the 300 acre farm on which he died. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon with Rev. W. K. Spencer, a Presbyterian minister of this city, in charge. Winchell & Stone were the officiating undertakers and interment was made in Balcom cemetery. He was born in Oakland county, but came to this county when 10 years of age with his parent’s. For the past 16 years he had lived in Berlin township, and prior to that time had lived in Ionia Township He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of this city. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Alfred Fisher of Ann Arbor; one son, Joel Benedict, of Berlin township three sisters, Miss Jessie L. Benedict and Miss Cornelia Benedict of Evanston, Ill., and Mrs. J. H. Canfield of Pittsburg.
