Ionia Daily Standard, 3 Feb 1899

Mrs. Mary M. Benedict died suddenly at her home, 115 West Lincoln avenue this 
afternoon at twenty minutes after twelve.  She was eighty-two years of age, and 
had been ill for about two weeks.  She had experienced a slight attack of the 
grip, and her strength had been greatly reduced by her old age and previous 
spells of sickness, so that she easily succumbed.  Seven children survive her: 
Jessie L. Benedict, Mrs. J. H. Canfield, Mrs. E. P. Morrison, J. H. Benedict, 
and Gordon A. Benedict of this city; Cornelia Benedict of Evanston, Ills., and 
Dr. Theodore M. Benedict of Greenville.  The funeral will be held on Monday, 
the time and place to be announced later.
