B. Benedict died at his home, in this city, on Sunday last. He came to this place immediately after graduating, about the year 1862. In Ionia and within a circle of country tributary to it, there were then three families who believed in the virtues of his school of practice, and it required a faithful, self reliant, persistent character to overcome the violent prejudices with which his theories were regarded. Many men, of equal skill, would never have succeeded; but beneath a quiet exterior, there existed in his breast a determined spirit and a calm confidence in himself, that after many years of ill repaid toil and weary waiting, was at last rewarded with a practice so extensive that he could not attend to all the calls made upon him, and second probably to no other in the county. He had a faculty of placing himself in sympathy with his patients and of gaining their confidence and esteem to an unusual degree, which made him a near friend to all whom he served by his skill. The funeral services, at the Disciples church, on Tuesday p.m., were very largely attended, in spite of the storm, and it was truly an assemblage of mourners. The Rev. Mr. Gault, in his sermon, paid a feeling and just tribute to his character.
