Benedict, eldest son of the late Joel Benedict, died about 10 a.m., on Wednesday, after a long illness. Dr. Benedict studied medicine for a time with Dr. Allen of this city, nearly 40 years ago, and subsequently graduated from the Detroit homeopathic College. He settled in Greenville for practice of his profession 30 years ago, and remained there until failing health caused his retirement, coming to Ionia about two years ago. His age was 59. He leaves a wife, Emma, daughter of the late Jonathan Tibbitts, and two daughters: Ruth, remaining at home, and Elizabeth, a teacher of music in the Dennison University, Ohio. The funeral will probably be Friday afternoon. ---- The funeral services of Dr. T.M. Benedict were held at the home of his sister, at 1:30 on Friday afternoon. His daughter, Miss Elizabeth Benedict, from Granville, Ohio, arrived Wednesday night, also his sisters, the Misses Jessie and Corretta Benedict, from Chicago. Several of Dr. Benedict’s friends came from Greenville: Dr. Bower, Mr. James Satterlee, Mr. George Stevens, Mrs. Eli Clark, Mrs. Douglas and Mrs. Brown.
