Mrs. Ella Benedict died at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the home of her son-in-law and 
daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Otto Benjamin of Grand Rapids.  She had been in ill 
health several months.

Mrs. Benedict had been a resident of the Lyons area for many years.  Her 
husband, Earl, died several years ago.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Otto (Thelma) Benjamin, Miss Mabel Benedict 
and Mrs. Elton (Hazel) Tubbs, both of Lansing, and Mrs. Clarence (Fern) 
Lehnhardt of Bay City; one son, Ferris of Lansing, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Boynton’s funeral home and will be 
announced later.

Funeral service for Mrs. Ella M. Benedict, who died Friday, was held at the 
Lyons Baptist church Monday at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Elmer Ubbink officiated, 
assisted by the Rev. Charles Vermilyea of St. Louis.  Organist was Mrs. 
Lawrence Albright and vocalist, Mrs. Francis Ralph.

Bearers were Clifford Halsted, Clayton Ralph, Lawrence Albright, Ray Dickerson, 
Norman Wakefield and Judd Benjamin.  Interment was at Portland cemetery.

Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Benjamin and Mr. and Mrs. 
Dale Benjamin, Grand Rapids; Charles Wittman, St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Eldon 
Tubbs, Allen, Sharon and Richard Tubbs, Miss Mabel Benedict and Mr. and Mrs. 
Ferris Benedict, Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Benjamin, Wheaton, Ill.; Mr. and 
Mrs. Clarence Lehnhardt, Gene and Doreen, Bay City, and other relatives and 
friends from Portland, Pewamo and Ionia.
