Benedict, was born in Orange, Jan. 17, 1907. She came to brighten their hearts and home on the second anniversary of her parent’s wedding day. She was a bright and loving child, was much interested in her school work and also her Sunday school. She was a member of the sunshine band of little girls and enjoyed their meetings and had planned to entertain them at her home but could not on account of illness. She seemed to be a very robust child until about a year ago she suffered a severe attack of tonsillitis and never was strong afterward. Disease had fastened itself in her little body and all that medical skill and loving care could do availed nothing. She gradually failed and passed away at the home on Lafayette street Monday afternoon, Nov. 6, at 2 o’clock. Her little light was extinguished at the age of 9 years, 9 months, 20 days. The funeral services were held at the LeValley church at 2 o’clock Nov. 8. The church was beautifully decorated in white. Sermon was by Rev. Hansen assisted by Rev. C. E. Hoag of Ionia. Text, “She is not dead but sleepeth.” Singing was by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Spencer. She was laid to rest in the Balcom cemetery amid a profusion of beautiful flowers to await the resurrection day.
