Benedict, Jr., 63, of Belding, passed away Saturday morning, May 20, 2006, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids. Miles was born Oct. 18, 1942, in Belding, the son of Miles Sr. and Ethel May Gillespie Benedict. During the Vietnam War, Miles proudly served in the United Sates Navy aboard the USS Boston. He was a member of the Michigan Bow Hunters and was past president of his union, Local 438. Miles had retired in 2005 from Tower Automotive in Greenville after 34 years of service. Miles was an active ham ratio operator. He also taught himself to play the guitar. His biggest love was his family and the time spent doing many fun things together. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. He was married Dec. 4, 1965, in Belding to Claire Levesque. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Claire; their children, Joseph and Denise LeBel, Ronda and Tim Gibbs, Sandra and Kevin Bannister, John and Marcia LeBel, Miles Benedict III and Kimberly Krouse, Jacqueline and Dan Clark, all of Belding; grandchildren, David, Little John and Sarah, Christine, Tia, Ashley and Brandon, Thomas, Bradley, Allison, Corynne, Carolyn, Danny Boy, Courtney, Katie and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Taylor and Brookelynne; sisters and their spouses, Kristen and Jim Summers, Peggy and Jerry Howell all of Belding; uncle, Carl Harris of Belding; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Community Church, Orleans, with Pastor Kendall Harger officiating. Interment will follow in Orleans Township Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gift of Life Program.
