Benedict – At her late residence in Orange, Nov. 17, 1883, Mrs. Pamelia Benedict, aged 51 years 8 months. Pamelia Chase was born in Jefferson county, N.Y., March 2, 1832. At the age of 14 she moved with her parents to Watertown, Jefferson county, N.Y., where in 1852, she was united in marriage to Lewis N. Benedict, with whom she came to Michigan in 1874 and settled in Ionia. March 1876 they moved onto their farm in the township of Orange, where they lived until death called her away. At the age of 15 Sister Benedict attended a revival at Watertown, conducted by Rev. James Ervin. There she felt her lost condition, and fled to Christ for safety. She immediately united with the M.E. church and has ever since been an acceptable member. There were times of darkness and trial, but through all she struggled on, ever finding in Christ a present help. Her last illness was one of continual suffering for many weary weeks. But through all she was patient and hopeful. A companion and two children are left to mourn a faithful companion and loving mother. – J.F. Orwick.
