He had been in poor health for the past year and was ill in bed for the past month. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Benedict, and was born October 27, 1853, in Oakland county. In 1900 he married May Deitz, who died, and in 1905 he married Addie N. Hendrick. When he was four years old the family moved to Wisconsin for two years and then back to Michigan. Mrs. Benedict was one of the first four mail carriers in Ionia, and at the age of 65 retired with a pension. Surviving him are his wife, Addie; two children, Ralph C. Benedict of Portland, and Miss Lorraine Benedict of Ann Arbor, one sister, Miss Kate Benedict of Ionia; and two grandchildren, Edith and Katherine. The death of her brothers leaves Miss Kate Benedict the only surviving member of a family of eight children. Funeral services will be held Monday; March 30, at 2 o'clock from the home, 337 Rich street. Rev. P.J. Fitch will officiate and interment will be at the Highland Park cemetery.
