The Ionia County News, Thursday, January 8, 1959
Mabel G. Benedict, 72, of Belding, died Wednesday, December 31, at the home of 
her daughter, Mrs. Carl Harris of 727 Harrison St., Belding.  She had been in 
ill health for one and one-half years.  Born April 2, 1886 in Bertrang, 
Nebraska, she was a resident of Belding for 48 years.  In 1913 she was married 
to Milton M. Benedict, who preceded her in death in 1946.  Her husband was the 
former engineer of the City of Belding and also mayor.  Mrs. Benedict was a 
member of the Church of God.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Grace) Harris of Belding, and Mrs. Joe 
(Theresa) Jesko of Ionia; one son, Miles M. Benedict of Belding; two sisters, 
Miss Pansy Smith and Mrs. Fairy Kingon, both of Elgin, Illinois, and 12 
grandchildren.  

Funeral service was held Saturday, January 3 at the Huffman Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Omer Blevins officiating.  Interment was in Orleans cemetery.
