She was born May 20, 1864, at Houghton. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. Hendrick. When she was still a small child the family moved to L’Anse. They later moved to Ionia township to make their permanent home. For several years she lived with Mrs. Frank Benedict in Ionia. Her occupation was dressmaking. Early in 1900 she married Joel R. Benedict, a mail carrier in Ionia for many years. He died in 1936. She was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal church in Ionia and a member of the auxiliary of that church. She has made her home on Rich street since 1912. Since the death of her husband, his sister, Miss Kate Benedict, has made her home with her. Surviving are the sister-in-law, Miss Kate Benedict; a step-son, Ralph Benedict, of Portland, and a step-daughter, Miss Lorraine Benedict of Santa Monica, California. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Stone funeral home on East Washington Street. Rev. Henry A. Hanson will officiate and interment will be held at Highland Park cemetery.
