The funeral service for Linn Benedict took place at the home of his brother, 
Thane Benedict, 441 Pleasant street, at 9 o’clock Saturday a.m., and was very 
largely attended.  The service was by Rev. W. B. Taylor, of the Church of 
Christ, of which decedent was a member, assisted by Rev. Dr. Spencer of the 
Presbyterian church.  The singing was by Mrs. L. P. Brock and Mrs. W. L. Peck.  
The service as a whole was very impressive.

The floral testimonials were abundant and beautiful, showing the high regard 
and sympathy of many friends.  The machinists of the railroad shops sent a 
beautiful piece, as a special sign of fraternal esteem.

The bearers were Thane Benedict, G. S. Yates, Wing Yates, Leo Yates, W. L. Peck 
and W. L. Beals.

The funeral cortege was obliged to make a detour of nine miles to reach 
Highland Park cemetery.  The hacks, with relatives all followed the hearse to 
destination, but several carriages turned back on reaching a bad washout in 
creek bottom near A. M. Welch’s.

Linn Benedict was 24 years.  He was a promising young man, of engaging 
personality, which attached him strongly to friends.  For several years his 
health was delicate, and on this account he went to Alabama four or five years 
ago, where he was employed in the machinist department of railroad shops near 
Mobile.  For a time his health seemed to improve with the change of climate, 
but latterly the disease seemed to take a new and firmer hold, and it was soon 
evident that there was no hope of recovery.
