Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Thelma N. Benjamin, 85, of Saranac passed away Feb. 25, 2002 in Ionia.

She was born July 14, 1916 in Saranac, the daughter of Norman and Mattie 
(Middleton) Childs.  She went on to marry Sherle Benjamin July 10, 1934 in 
Ionia, who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1992.

She is survived by her son, Donald (Carol) Benjamin of Saranac; daughters, 
Doris (Charles) Austin of Saranac and Miriam (Foss) White of Fenwick; 11 
grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Murl.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac with Rev. John Madvig officiating.  Interment Saranac Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday 
at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac.

Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to Saranac Community Church or 
Saranac Fire Department.
