SARANAC- Sherly H. Benjamin, 84, of Saranac died Sunday at Butterworth Hospital 
in Grand Rapids.

He married the former Thelma Childs on July 10, 1934, in Ionia. He repaired and 
made clocks for more than 20 years in Saranac.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Donald of Saranac; two daughters, Doris 
Austin of Saranac and Miriam White of Hastings; one brother, Lyle of Saranac; 
two sisters, Anne Baker of Holt and Jewell Swanberg of Florida; 11 
grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by one son and one brother.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac, with 
the Rev. Stanley Hagemeyer officiating. 

The family will be at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

A memorial has been established for Saranac Community Church, in care of the 
funeral home.
