Sept. 28, 1983 VICTOR M. BENNER HASTINGS-Mr.Victor M. Benner, 72, of Port Charlotte, Florida, former long time Hastings and Lake Odessa barber, died Sept. 22 at his residence in Florida. He was born in Hastings Jan.24,1911, the son of Girden and Alice (Koble) Benner. He spent his early years in Hastings attending schools. He owned and operated barber shops in Hastings and Lake Odessa until 1973 when he retired to Florida. He was also engaged in farming in Carlton Township. He was a former Carlton Township Clerk and Justice of the Peace and a former member of the Carlton Center Grange, Lake Odessa Lions Club and Barry County Artifical Breeders association. He married Alice Knickerbocker on Dec. 14, 1932. Survivors include his wife; one son, Rex Leslie of Charlotte Harbor, Florida; six grandchildren four great grandchildren; one brother, Voyle Benner of Hastings; three step-sisters: Mrs. Vivian Woodin of Belmont, Mi., Mrs. Helen Swensen of California and Miss Doris Benner of Arizona; three step-brothers, Lyle Biddle of Hastings, Gordon and Kenneth Biddle of California. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Wren Funeral Home in Hastings. The Rev. Willard H. Curtis officiating. Burial was in Fuller Cemetery.
