Bennett, 73, of rural Lyons died Saturday evening at Ingham Medical hospital in Lansing following a short illness of pneumonia. Born in Lyons township January 10, 1900, he was the son of Wilber and Minnie Bennett and attended the Lyon schools. He was a farmer and also plant protection guard for Dow Chemical in Midland and Ludington, also worked for Pickett and Scheurer Gravel Company at Allegan. June 24, 1926, he was married in Alma to Glenellyn Coalwell. He was a member of Lyons United Methodist church, life member of Lyons lodge F&AM and Order of Eastern Star and also belonged to the Farm Bureau. Surviving is the wife, Glenellen of Lyons. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lyons United Methodist church. Rev. Richard Strait will officiate and interment will be at Lyons cemetery. Until noon Wednesday Mr. Bennett will be at Hull Memorial chapel in Muir. A Masonic service will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
