Born July 1, 1905, in Bushnell township, Montcalm county, he was the son of Fred and Lillie Bennett. He graduated from the Lyons high school. In 1929 he was married to Helen Comer who died in 1936. He later married Lucille Raglin in 1937 and she died in 1971. He was a metal finisher at the Oldsmobile in Lansing 15 years and was then employed and retired from General Tire Company and its predecessors. Surviving are two sons, Charles of Portland and James of Lyons; four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Lemke of Muir, Mrs. Frances Shattuck of Ionia and Mrs. Karen Campbell of Belding and Vickie Bennett at home; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, George of Ruskin, Fla., Jay of Lyons and Clarence of Palo; sister, Mrs. Marion VanDyne of Lyons. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Lyons United Methodist church. Rev. Richard Strait will officiate and interment will be at the Lyons cemetery. Until noon Wednesday the body will be at the Hull Memorial chapel at Muir.
