Dorothy “Dort” I. Bennett, 82, of Ionia, formerly of Orleans, passed away
Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus, Grand Rapids.

She was born March 6, 1927, in Ionia, the daughter of Foster John and Helen
(Foltz) Kenny.  Dort was a member of the Orleans Methodist Church, graduated
from Ionia High School in 1945, loved to sew and do arts and craft.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie of Ionia; sisters Jo Brown of Greenville
and Pat (John) Currigan of Holt; brothers James (Marian) Kenny of Greenville and
Robert Kenny of Belding; sisters-in-law Clarabelle (Eugene) Courser of
Clarksville, Florence Ward and Charlene (Eugene) Gorby of Ionia; brothers-in-law
Bob Bennett of Orleans and Harry Orr of Ohio; and also by her nieces and
nephews; step-brothers Harry (Barb) Selleck of Muskegon; step-sisters Marcia
(Steve) Fountain of Ionia and Karolyn (Jim) VanNord of Sparta.  She was preceded
in death by her parents; husband, Bert Bennett of Feb. 15, 2008; and her sister
Marjorie Orr.

Funeral and Committal Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at the
Marshall Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Mark VanKleeck officiating. 
Visitation will be from noon till the services on Tuesday.  Spring burial will
be at Orleans Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made in Dort’s name to
Ionia County Commission on Aging.  Arrangements are by the Marshall Funeral
Home, Greenville.
