Bert R. Bennett, age 83, of Orleans, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at his 
home.  He was born Oct. 21, 1924 in Orleans, the son of Roy and Pearl (McCain) 
Bennett.  Bert was a co-owner of Thorps Service in Ionia with Richard White 
and loved fishing, hunting and farming. 

He is survived by his wife Dort; daughter Debbie of Orleans; three sisters, 
Clarabelle (Eugene) Courser of Clarksville, Florence Ward and Charlene 
(Eugene) Gorby of Ionia; brother Bob Bennett of Orleans; sisters-in-law Jo 
Brown of Greenville and Pat (John) Currigan of Holt; brothers-in-law James 
(Marian) Kenny of Greenville and Robert Kenny of Belding and also by his 
nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Fred 
Bennett and a sister-in-law Marjorie Orr.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 at the Marshall Funeral 
Home, Greenville.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until services on Monday.  
Burial will be in Orleans Cemetery.
