Bertha M. Bennett, 73, of Lakeview, died at her home Tuesday, December 6, 
2005.  She was born in Ionia on October 31, 1932, the daughter of Robert and 
Martha Braley White.  She was married June 13, 1952, to James A. Bennett.  She 
was a loving, caring and hard-working mom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bennett, in 1983; son, John 
Bennett, in 1978; five brothers; and five sisters.  She is survived by her 
children, Susan and Riste Trumble of Fenwick, Stanley Bennett of Hubbardston, 
Carol and Larry Oyler of Sheridan, Alan Bennett and Grace Guinnup of Sidney, 
Debra and Dennis Hagadus of Sheridan, Margaret Spain of Carson City, James A. 
Bennett Jr. of Belding, Nickie Bennett of Lakeview; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-
grandchildren with one more expected in February 2006; and many nieces and 
nephews.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the 
Rev. Jerry Carlson of Sheridan Assembly of God officiating.  Burial is in 
Tuttle Cemetery, Ionia.  Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral 
home.  Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
