The Belding Banner-News, Wednesday, July 7, 1926


Almeda Green was born in Fulton county, Ohio, November 22, 1842 and died June 
30, 1926 at the home of her daughter in Belding.  She was united in marriage to 
Leonard Sperry, July 4, 1864.  To this union two children were born, Mrs. Hulda 
Robinson, of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Myrta Burns of this city.  In July, 1874 
they came to Carson City, Michigan, making the trip with horses and wagon.  The 
following fall her husband died of the then prevalent typhoid fever, leaving 
her with two small children. Two years later she was united in marriage to 
Hollis Bennett.  She was again left a widow on February 8, 1896.  For the last 
twenty-three years she has made her home in Belding.  She became a member of 
the Baptist church when a girl and has always affiliated with some local 
church.  During her six years of invalidism her bible has been a great comfort 
to her.  Her favorite quotation was, “In My father’s home are many mansions.”  

Surviving her besides her two daughters and son-in-law are three 
granddaughters, Mrs. Robert Ross of Waldron, Mrs. Clarence Fayt of Detroit and 
Cleotah Burns of Lansing.  She will be greatly missed by her family and host of 
friends she had made during her long sojourn here on earth.
