BENNETT, former resident of Orange township and 636 Cyrus street, died Saturday morning at his home at 322 Oak street, Harrison. Survivors include his wife, Alma; a daughter, Mrs. Carmen Petersen; a son, Hobard Bennett of Ionia, and one granddaughter. Arrangements are by Stone-Kauffman funeral home." IONIA SENTINEL-STANDARD, (MI), Monday, July 20, 1964: "Deaths - CHARLES R. BENNETT - Funeral service for Charles Bennett, 76, of 322 Oak street, Harrison, who died Saturday morning at his home, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home. The Rev. Daniel L. Wolfe of Harrison will officiate and burial will be at Balcom cemetery. Mr. Bennett was born in Berlin township February 17, 1888, the son of Miles and Sophia Bennett and was married in Ionia in 1906 to Alma Pickens. He lived in Orange township until moving to 636 Cyrus street and had resided in Harrison since October 1963. He was a member of Ionia lodge 36, F&AM which will have charge of Masonic graveside service. Survivors include his wife, Alma; a son Edgar Hobart Bennett of Ionia; a daughter, Mrs. Carmen Petersen of Harrison; two granddaughters, Mrs. Suzanne Hauter of Harrison and Mrs. Marilyn Long of Grand Rapids; and two great-grandchildren." IONIA SENTINEL-STANDARD, (MI), Wednesday, July 22, 1964: "Deaths - CHARLES R. BENNETT - Funeral service for Charles R. Bennett, 76, of 322 Oak street, Harrison who died Saturday, was conducted Tuesday at 2 o'clock in Ionia with the Rev. Daniel L. Wolfe of Harrison officiating. Burial at Balcom cemetery was under the auspices of Ionia F&AM lodge with Fay Hall, worshipful master; Norman Ketner, senior warden; Norbert VerPorter, junior warden, and Charles McFaden, chaplain, assisting. Bearers were Riley Kneale, William Kneale, Leonard Hausserman, Harold Harwood, Hugh Coulson and Marvel Church. Out of town relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Petersen and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hauter of Harrison, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Long of Grand Rapids." THE IONIA COUNTY NEWS, (MI), Thurs., July 23, 1964, p 4: "LeValley, Berlin Center News - We extend our sympathy to the family of Charles Bennett who died last Saturday morning. He lived on M66, south of David Highway for many years."
