  IONIA SENTINEL-STANDARD, 3-8-1993:  "HAROLD J. BENNETT, 88, of Ionia died
March 5 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.
   Born on Feb. 12, 1905, in Berlin Township, he was the son of William and
Orvilla Whitmore Bennett.
   He farmed in Berlin Township all his life and was a member of Berlin Center
Grange for 61 years.  He served as Berlin Township clerk for four years and then
as supervisor for 30 years.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
   Surviving are Dorothy, his wife of 53 years; a son, Robert of Ionia; and two
grandchildren, Matthew and Lynne.  He was preceded in death by a son and three
brothers, George, Seigel and Miles.
   Funeral and commitment services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday from Cook
Funeral Home, Ionia, with the Rev. David Flagel officiating.  Burial will be in
the spring at Balcom Cemetery.
   The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30
p.m.  Memorials have been established for the Berlin Center United Methodist
Church and the Berlin-Orange Fire Department."
   Pallbearers were Richard and William Bennett, Michael and Mark Mason, and
Ronald Cochrun.
