   IONIA SENTINEL-STANDARD, September  19, 1987, p 2:  "Area obituaries - MILES
E. BENNETT - IONIA - Miles E. Bennett, 76, of Ionia died Friday at his home.
   The son of William D. and Orvilla Jane Whitmore Bennett, he was born in Ionia
June 10, 1911.  He was a farmer in Berlin Township for many years and lived his
entire life on the family homestead.  He also served as sexton of Balcom
Cemetery for 25 years and on his retirement was honored by the Balcom Cemetery
Association with a bronze memorial plaque.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
   He was married to Marjorie Jean Rogers July 8, 1942, in Stanton.  She survives. 
Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Harold Bennett of Berlin
Township; and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday from the Rich Street Chapel of
Montgomery-Cook Funeral Home, with the Rev. Willis Braun officiating.
   Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home
Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
   Memorials have been established for the Arthritis Foundation and for the
American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home."

BENNETT - IONIA - Funeral services for Miles E. Bennett of rural Ionia were held
Monday from the Cook Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, with the Rev. Willis
Braun officiating.
   Organist was Mary Cusack.  Burial was in Balcom Cemetery.  Pallbearers were
Richard, Robert, William, Rance, David and Carl Bennett, Jr. 
   Following graveside services, lunch was served to family and friends at the
Bennett residence."
