MITCHELL BENNETT 1941-2016
Mitchell Bennett, age 74, of Lyons passed away May 17, 2016 in Lyons. He was born
Oct. 28, 1941 in Ionia County, the son of Clarence J. and Wreatha (Mason) Bennett.
Mitchell was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland and St. Patrick Knights of
Columbus. He was a former Lyons-Muir Lions Club member and was very active in community
service projects. He adored his family.

Mitchell is survived by his loving wife Gert Bennett of Lyons; Children, Thomas
(Julie) Bennett of Muir, Julie (Dave) Durham of Norfolk, Virginia, Michelle (Tim) Cowan of 
Woodland park, Colorado, Carolee Bennett of Portland and Toni Marie (Ben) Baldwin of
Vermilion, Ohio; grandchildren, Daniel (Katie) Bennett, Bridgett Bennett (Tom),
Phillip Durham, Eric Durham, Dakota Cowan, Zachary Baldwin, Chayce Baldwin and Alexandria 
Bennett; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Madison, Lainey, Kendall and Drew; brother,
Larry (Mary) Bennett of Great Falls, Montana; sister Virginia (John) Snyder of Muir;
sister-in-law, Ruth Bennett of Lyons; and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Jerry Bennett; and a
sister, Joan Dennis.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, at St. Patrick
Catholic Church in Portland with Father Larry Kind Celebrant. Arrangements by lake funeral
Home of Muir. Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Community Awareness or St. Patrick
