He was born at McBride January 30, 1890, and came to Orleans at the age of three weeks to the farm home where he spent his entire life. He was married January 19, 1916, to Elfreda Yeomans of Ionia who preceded him in death in 1922. He later married Pearl McCain who survives. He was a member of Maccabee lodge and farmer’s grange. Also surviving are three sons, Bob and Bert of Orleans and Fred of Portland, three daughters, Clarabelle Courser and Florence Ward of Clarksville and Charlene Lott of Ionia, 14 grandchildren and one nephew, Clair Durfey of Grand Rapids. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Huffman funeral home in Belding with burial in Orleans cemetery. Rev. Luther Brokaw will officiate. The family will greet friends and relatives Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Bearers will be Earnest Leach, Belmont Burger, Duane Willis, Lester Hulbert, Ernest Allen, and Orville Bollinger. Honorary bearer is Erme Face.
