Ionia County News - Thursday, April 4, 1963

Mrs. Flora Jane Bennett, 53, of Muir, died Friday, March 15, at the home of 
her daughter, Mrs. Robert Marron, of Grand Rapids.

Mrs. Bennett had been a surgical patient at Blodgett hospital and was taken 
to the home of her daughter on Saturday, March 9.

Born April 14, 1909, in Leland county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George 
Brooks, she graduated  from the Traverse City high school and was married 
June 15, 1930, to Edward Bennett. They lived most of their married life in 
the Lyons-Muir area. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the First Christian 
Church, in Muir, for 32 years, the Evergreen Chapter, OES and also assisted 
her husband in his Boy Scout work.

Survivors include her husband, Edward; one son, Edward Jr., of Flint; three 
daughters, Mrs. Ada Jane Johnson of Triangle, Virginia, Mrs. Cora Louise 
Marron of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Anna Rose Gillett of Muir; two brothers, 
Thomas Armstrong of Roseville and Emmet Armstrong of Traverse City; and 
eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 18, at the First Christian 
Church in Muir with the Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial was in Oakwood 
Cemetery in Muir.
