He died after a painful illness of scarlet fever which had lasted about two weeks. On account of the nature of the disease the body was taken directly to the cemetery where a short service was held conducted by the Rev.W.J. Those from out of town who were in attendance at the services were Mr and Mrs John Bennett of Lansing, Mr and Mrs Frank Bennett of Portland, Mr and Mrs E.Jackson of Sunfield, Mrs Horton of Sunfield, Alton Stine of S.Dakota, Rose Troutner and Addie Stine of Battle Creek. OBITUARY James William Bennett, the little son of Mr and Mrs Owen Bennett, was born at Hastings, Michigan on July 25, 1908 and died in Lansing July 15, 1910. He was a most patient sufferer and leaves to mourn their loss his father and mother, also other relatives and friends who never can forget his sweet face. We live in a land of sunshine, So, when our darling died, We simply pushed away the flowers That littered the green hillside, And made him a bed of blossoms; This dear little child of ours, And covered with sweet blossoms from head to feet. We left him asleep with the flowers. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our appreciation and heartfelt thanks to our many friends for their loving kindness and sympathy extended to us in our bereavement in the death of our darling baby. Especially do we wish to thank the choir for their kindly assistance, Mr and Mrs Owen Bennett Mr and Mrs John Bennett.
