The Daily Sentinel, Thursday, December 26, 1940
Mrs. Sophia Bennett, 91, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Tew in 
Lake Odessa, Christmas night after a long illness. She was born in Canada in 
1849 and came to Michigan in 1868 with her husband, Miles Bennett, and settled 
on a farm in Berlin township.  They made their home there for many years.  He 
died in 1900.  Twenty years ago she went to Lake Odessa to make her home with 
her daughter.  She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church in Berlin.  
Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Tew; and two sons, William D. and Charles R. 
of Berlin township.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the home in Lake 
Odessa.  Rev. Leon Manning of Charlotte will officiate.  Interment will be at 
Balcom cemetery.
