         CONSTANCE "CONNIE" L.(SAWYER) BENNETT

Died Saturday February 4, 2023-age 79 of Portland.
Born October 28, 1943 in Portland, daughter of Robert & Cleda (Brown) Sawyer.
Graduated from Portland High School in Class of 1961.
Connie enjoyed knitting sweater sets for new babies, & decorating wedding cakes.
Active in 4-H as a child, showing horses & cattle.
Was a 4-H leader for 45 years, teaching knitting, cooking, ceramics & crafts. 
She cooked caramel corn & peanut brittle for Christmas gifts.
Connie worked at "Corner Landing" for 35 years.
Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol Lakin; brothers, Donny & Bruce 
Sawyer & nephew,Darren Babbitt.
Survived by her children, Denny (Kistra) Bennett, Greg(Michelle) Bennett, Kelly 
(Jerry) Dennis & Jeff Bennett; grandchildren, Samantha (Bill) Crawford, Makayla 
(Jordan) Bennett, Elisha Bennett Hayden Dennis & Ruby Bennett; great-
grandchildren, Charleigh & Wyatt Crawford & Brooks Scott; siblings, Noel 
Babbitt, Becky (Tod) Sims, Tom (Deb) Sawyer, Lonnie (Rosalee) Sawyer; brother-
in-law, Roger Lakin; & several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Bob Beckett at 11 :00 am. Friday, 
February 10, 2023 Portland,at Lehman Funeral Home.
Interment to follow at Portland Cemetery.
Luncheon will follow interment at the Wagon Wheel American Grill, Portland.
Memorial contributions toward renovations of the Floral Building at the Ionia 
Free Fair grounds in Connie's memory.
Pall bearers will be Connie's nephews, Dan Babbitt, Tim Lakin, Rick Manshum, Ron 
Manshum, Randy Manshum, Trevor Sawyer, Richie Cook & Patrick Nurenberg.
