Ionia shopper's Guide - Saturday April 6, 2024

             BENNETT

Robert LeRoy Bennett age 86 of Ionia,MI passed away March 27, 2024. He was born 
on October 23, 1937 in Ionia to mom, fern (Charlie)Montgomery and dad Warren 
(June) Bennett. Robert married Margaret Lesky on February 17, 1955 in Ionia.

He worked for Ionia Hospital doing maintenance work for 25 years. He enjoyed 
fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed remodeling houses, doing carpentry and 
cement work.

Surviving  are his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret T.Bennett of Ionia; 
children, Rochelle (Dan) Makley of Fenwick, Robbie Bennett and Annie Misner of 
Ionia, Peggy Daugherty and Darryle Bowman of Houghton Lake and Laurie (Dirk) 
Lake of Ionia; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and a soon to be great-
great-grandchild; siblings, Sherry Shook of Lansing, Gloria (Ken) King of 
Indiana, Madeline(Gary)Hunter of Moddersville, George (Jackie) Bennett of 
Lansing, Linda (Ron) Dankenbring, Nancy (Wayne) Morgridge and Pat (Terry) 
Madison; sister-in-law, Shirley Bennett, Jen People, Mary Seymour and Phyllis 
Cahill; special cousin and friend, Billy Montgomery.

He was preceded in death by his parens; son, Willie Bennett; granddaughter, 
Renada Schafer; great grandchildren, Dayna Mosher, Nicholas Bennett and Colton 
Sturgeon-Barber; sisters, Doris Hopkins, Muggins Yahr and Joanne Robinson; 
brothers, Silas Bennett, Bobby Williams and Dan Peoples; mother-in-law, Agnes 
Avels Lesky; brothers-in-law, Chuck Yahr, Jerry Shook, Al Lesky, John Lesky, 
Jimmy Lesky, Phillip Lesky, Bill Lesky, Jim Langdon, Bill Seymour, Joe 
Schueller, Hildi Hildabrandt, Bud Gommensen and Dave Cahill; sister-in-law, 
Dorothy Lesky,Edna Gommensen, Donna Schueller, Annie Langdon, Florance 
Hildabandt, Greta Lesky and Arla Lesky; son-in-law, Ron Daugherty.

Graveside services was held at Easton Cemetery on Thursday, April 4th at 11:30 
AM with Pastor James Floyd officiating. A visitation was at the Lake Funeral 
Home in Ionia on Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 PM.Those wishing may make memorial
