Ionia Daily Sentinel, 25 & 28 Mar 1917

Ira Bennett, aged 84 years, died at his home in Berlin township at 10 o’clock 
Thursday night, having been ill only since Sunday.  Deceased was one of the 
pioneer settlers of the county, coming to Berlin when that vicinity was a 
wilderness over 50 years ago, and living there continuously since.  He was born 
in New York state and was one of a family of 11 brothers; three of whom survive 
him, Niles and Theodore Bennett, who live south of Ionia, and Eugene Bennett of 
LaSalle, N. Y.  Mrs. Bennett died about eight years ago.

Funeral services for Ira Bennett were largely attended at the Wesleyan church 
Sunday.  The bearers were four nephews.  Interment was in Balcom cemetery.
